How Promoters Make Money

Learn the realistic path from building a credible storefront to earning an eligible commission on an attributed ticket sale.

Begin the playbook
01

What does a promoter actually do?

A promoter creates trusted distribution: finding the right opportunity, reaching the right audience, and helping an organizer convert attention into sales.

More than posting flyers

A promoter creates distribution.

Find opportunities

Notice events and organizers whose audience overlaps with yours.

Start with local events you genuinely understand, not every event you can find.

The organizer still owns the event, ticket setup, and approval terms. The promoter's job is to create trusted distribution around an eligible offer.

02

How commission is earned

Commission only exists when an organizer approves the terms and a customer completes a valid purchase through that attributed promotion.

Approved attribution flow

Commission starts with a valid storefront purchase.

No attributed promotion means no promoter commission.

  1. 01

    Organizer publishes

A paid event and its ticket tiers become available.

  2. 02

    Storefront is approved

The organizer chooses the store, tiers, limits, prices, and commission.

  3. 03

    Promoter shares

The promoter uses the approved storefront or attributed event link.

  4. 04

    Customer purchases

Checkout validates the active store and promotion before payment.

  5. 05

    Sale is attributed

The order records its store, promotion, and configured commission.

  6. 06

    Commission is pending

The amount is tracked, but it is not paid immediately.

  7. 07

    Eligibility is checked

The event must end, the hold must pass, and the order must remain eligible.

  8. 08

    Organizer + promoter transfers

Each eligible amount is checked separately and sent to its connected account.

Ticket sales

The example ticket subtotal before platform and processing fees.

In this example, Zentry's $2 platform fee and Stripe processing are charged in addition to the ticket subtotal; processing is passed to the customer.

03

Find your first organizer

Strong outreach starts with audience fit and a useful plan, not a promise you cannot guarantee.

Relationship roadmap

Earn the conversation first.

01 / 05

Find local events

Start with venues, events, and communities you already understand.

Good outreach

"Hi Maya - I run a UNO nightlife page focused on Thursday and Friday events. I would like to help promote Friday Night Live. I can share a three-post plan, use my Zentry storefront link for attribution, and report what converts. Are you open to discussing an approved ticket allocation and commission?"
  • Names a relevant audience
  • References a specific event
  • Offers a concrete distribution plan
  • Asks to discuss approval and terms

Zentry does not currently provide organizer direct messages. Use the public contact or social links an organizer chooses to share, then keep approval and storefront terms clear.

04

Build a storefront people can trust

Your storefront is the promoter identity organizers evaluate and customers follow. Make every public signal intentional.

Storefront builder

Build credibility one signal at a time.

05

Sell with relevance, not repetition

Choose the channels your audience already trusts, then connect each useful message to the approved storefront purchase path.

Channel strategy

Instagram

Use a clear event hook, practical details, and the attributed event link where people can act.

Plan one announcement, one proof or context post, and one timely reminder.

Trust first

Recommend events that fit the audience you serve.

Use attribution

Send buyers through the approved storefront purchase path.

Learn consistently

Track sales, refine the message, and protect the relationship.

06

Your first commission has a lifecycle

A completed sale creates pending commission. Event timing, refund status, payout setup, and eligibility determine when it can transfer.

STEP 01 / 09

Create your storefront

Publish a recognizable promoter identity with a focused profile.

Your store exists, but it does not contain arbitrary events.

Example commission

Not started

One attributed $20 ticket

$0

A full refund cancels unpaid commission and restores inventory. If money already transferred, the order requires financial review instead of creating a second automatic payment.

Organizer revenue and promoter commission have separate payout statuses. Zentry may process both in one payout run, but each amount needs its own eligible connected account.

Turn the lesson into an action plan

These are the practical steps between today and an eligible first commission. Save your place locally and move at a credible pace.
